World Science vs The Bible
When the Bible and Science do not agree, I must and will accept the Bible as the truth.
II TImothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God --- The Bible is "God-breathed" so ultimately it has nothing to do with the education level or science knowledge of the individual writers.
Science claims the earth/universe was created by a Big Bang. The Bible says God.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Science says Evolution. The Bible says God.
Genesis 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Science says the earth is spinning. The Bible mentions no movement, with pillars and foundations, and that the earth has a particular "place" or location.
Psalm 93:1 The world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.I Samuel 2:8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and he hath set the world upon them.
Isaiah 13:13
Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
I Chronicles 16:30
Berean Study Bible -- tremble before Him, all the earth. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.
King James Bible -- Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.
Science says the earth makes the days by rotating around the sun. The Bible says the sun is moving to create our days.
Joshua 10:13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed
Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised.
Isaiah 38:8 So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.Matthew 5:45 For he maketh his sun to rise.
Science says the moon is a reflector and has no light. The Bible says the moon has it's own light.
Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
Mark 13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light
I Corinthians 15:41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
Jeremiah 31:35
Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
Science says the universe is expanding. The Bible says the world is completed/finished.
Genesis 2:1-2 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
This verse might be the most popular verse that fellow Christians quote to prove a spinning ball earth BUT Isaiah knew the difference between a circle and a ball:
Isaiah 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the CIRCLE of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
Isaiah 22:18 He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a BALL into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house.
Based on this verse from Isaiah 40:22, it would seem to be there's a solid firmament or dome over the earth. And this firmament is mirrored on our side (that's what produces an outdoor rainbow -- indoor rainbows require a man-made mirror).
Paul said "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face" (1 Corinthians 13:12) -- we are not able to see through into Heaven, but I'm wondering if the "great cloud of witnesses" (Hebrews 12:1) in heaven can look down to us.
Isaiah 66:1 declares that the earth is God's footstool. Having a dome over the earth, and God sitting on this dome would indeed make the earth His footstool.
Revelation 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
Revelation 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
The sea of glass mentioned in Revelation could very well be the top of the dome that covers the earth.
Picture a King's ring/seal being used to press into clay to seal an important letter. Does it form a ball or a flat-surface with upraised edges? (See image below)
Job 38:14
Berean Study Bible: The earth takes shape like clay under a seal; its hills stand out like the folds of a garment.
King James Bible: It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.
Here are verses that describes 3 different areas --- the 3rd area is not possible on a ball earth:
Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Revelation 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
