Posted on November 24th 2016 at 03:26 PM Permalink

I'm thankful for:

My children & family.

Salvation & our house-church.

My health & doctors.

My ability to work & my job.

A comfortable home.

For food & a good appetite.

My barn, work-shop & wood-shop.

For faithful men & women of God.

For time to relax & enjoy the simple things of life.

For the town, state and nation that I live in.

Our bunny rabbits.

Thanksgiving 2016

In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I Thessalonians 5:18

My kids and I just finished eating our traditional thanksgiving meal. The main difference this year was that we decided to have (2) 3-pound turkey roasts instead of a full turkey.  Less prep time & less cleanup -- and the taste was just as good, if not better, than a full turkey.

After a time of relaxing, we'll go for a Jeep ride.

And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.   But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.  Matthew 24:12‭-‬13

Endurance - noun - To continue, despite fatigue, stress, or other adverse conditions.

Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. Philippians 2:12

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.  I Corinthians 9:27

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.  Luke 9:62

Candy Night

Posted on October 30th 2016 at 07:07 PM Permalink

My family doesn't celebrate halloween, but we do give out a nice assortment of candy plus several gospel Chick Tracts.

The final results:  Nearly all 500 bags that Jill & Holly made were given out.  And I thought I would get a treat from the few leftover bags --- but hmmmmm, it seems they have all disappeared.

A few of us are watching the Jeff Allen My Heart My Comedy dvd indoors, while my kids are handing out candy bags AND clowning around.  :-)

What A Day That Will Be

Youtube What A Day That Will Be with lyrics

There is coming a day
When no heart aches shall come
No more clouds in the sky
No more tears to dim the eye
All is peace forever more
On that happy golden shore
What a day, glorious day that will be

There'll be no sorrow there
No more burdens to bear
No more sickness, no pain
No more parting over there
And forever I will be
With the One who died for me
What a day, glorious day that will be

What a day that will be
When my Jesus I shall see
And I look upon His face
The One who saved me by His grace
When He takes me by the hand
And leads me through the Promised Land
What a day, glorious day that will be

All That Thrills My Soul Is Jesus

Posted on October 27th 2016 at 05:14 PM Permalink

Who can cheer the heart like Jesus
By His presence all divine
True and tender, pure and precious
O, how blest to call Him mine

All that thrills my soul is Jesus
He is more than life to me
And the fairest of ten thousand
In my blessed Lord I see

Love of Christ so freely given
Grace of God beyond degree
Mercy higher than the heavens
Deeper than the deepest sea

What a wonderful redemption
Never can a mortal know
And my sin, though red like crimson
Can be whiter than the snow

Every need His hand supplying
Every good in Him I see
On His strength divine relying
He is all in all to me

By the crystal flowing river
With the ransomed I will sing
And forever and forever
Praise and glorify the King

Back in 2009, we had a dvd series called The Life You've Always Wanted by John Ortberg.  I don't remember much from the series, but I do remember the term "Dee-Dah-Day."

A dee-dah-day for me is when I can spend time making a project in my woodshop , making a few pies or homemade candy in the kitchen, going for a Jeep ride in the woods, walking around a park, taking a motorcycle/scooter ride with my kids, etc.

I try to incorporate some dee-dah moments into my life as often as possible.  Hopefully you can too.

The Life You've Always Wanted description:

"The heart of Christianity is transformation---a relationship with God that impacts not just our "spiritual lives," but every aspect of living. John Ortberg calls you back to the dynamic heartbeat of Christianity --- God's power to bring change and growth --- and reveals both the how and why of transformation.

With a new chapter on prayer and added discussion questions, this expanded edition of The Life You've Always Wanted offers modern perspectives on the ancient path of the spiritual disciplines. But this is more than just a book about things to do to be a good Christian. It's a road map toward true transformation that starts not with the individual but with the object of the journey --- Jesus Christ."

An October Visitor

The boys were watching Scooby Doo --- and apparently Mr. or Ms. Blackbird must have wanted to watch the show too.  :-)

My Wonderful Lord

Youtube My Wonderful Lord

I have found a deep peace that I never had known
And a joy this world could not afford -
Since I yielded control of my body and soul
To my wonderful, wonderful Lord.

My wonderful Lord, my wonderful Lord
By angels and seraphs in Heaven adored
I know Thou art mine, my Savior divine
    My wonderful, wonderful Lord

I desire that my life shall be ordered by Thee
That my will be in perfect accord -
With Thine own sov'reign will
Thy desires to fulfill To my wonderful, wonderful Lord

All the talents I have I have laid at Thy Feet
Thy approval shall be my reward.
Be my store great or small
I surrender it all
To my wonderful, wonderful Lord.

Thou art fairer to me than the fairest of earth
Thou Omnipotent, Life-Giving Word
O Thou Ancient of Days
Thou art worthy all praise
My wonderful, wonderful Lord.

Song I Could Never Outlove the Lord

Youtube I Could Never Outlove The Lord with lyrics

There have been times when giving and loving brought pain
And I promised that I'd never let it happen again
But I found out that loving is well worth the risk
And that even in losing you win

I'm gonna live the way He wants me to live
I'm gonna give until there's just no more to give
I'm gonna love, love till there's just no more love
I could never, never out love the Lord

He showed us that only through dying we live
And He gave when it seemed there was nothing to give
He loved when loving brought heartache and loss
He forgave from a old rugged cross

Let Thy Mantle Fall On Me

Youtube Let Thy Mantle Fall On Me

Elijah was God's prophet
Elisha stood close by
And ere the prophet left him
He heard his servant cry

Then Elijah made the promise
That if faithful he would be
His petition would be granted
And God's glory he would see

As Elijah rose to heaven
In a chariot of fire
He did not forget his servant
Who expressed one strong desire

Let thy mantle fall on me
Let thy mantle fall on me (on me)
A double portion of Thy spirit Lord
Let thy mantle fall on me

In the Upper Room they waited
Twas the faithful Christian band
And their pray'r was heard and answered
Over in the gloryland

That pray'r of early Christians
Long ago and far away
Is the cry of all God's children
And it's just the same today

Let Thy Spirit fall on me
Let Thy Spirit fall on me
The promised blessing -- may it be out-poured
Let Thy Spirit fall on me

Covered By The Blood

Youtube with Lyrics

Once in sin’s darkest night I was wand’ring alone
A stranger to mercy I stood
But the Savior came nigh
When He heard my faint cry
And He put my sins under the blood

They are covered by the blood
They are covered by the blood
My sins are all covered by the blood
Mine iniquities so vast
Have been blotted out at last
My sins are all covered by the blood

From the burden I carried now I am set free
For Jesus has lifted my load
O the love and the grace I received in its place
When He put my sins under the blood

I can ne’er understand why He sought even me
Why His lifeblood on Calvary flowed
But sufficient for me
Since He died on the tree
He hath put my sins under the blood

Now He comes to my heart and removes ev’ry care
He bears all my cumbering load
In a pathway replete
With His love are my feet
Since He put my sins under the blood

Jeff Allen show

Posted on October 15th 2016 at 06:16 PM Permalink

It's 44 minutes, Jeff Allen will be having a live comedy show.....and I'm on the front row!!

Hopefully he doesn't tell the Bishop that I was here.  :-)

It felt good to laugh at his jokes including the marriage comedy.

Even though I've been estranged from my spouse since 2009 --- I went ahead & bought a copy of his dvd "Happy Wife, Happy Life." as a souvenir.

Thank God I'm Free

Thank God I'm Free by the Hemphills

Thank God I'm Free

For a long time I traveled down a long, lonely road
My heart was so heavy, in sin I sank low
Then I heard about Jesus, what a wonderful hour
I'm so glad that I found out
He would bring me out through His saving pow'r

Like a bird out of prison that's taken his flight
Like a blind man that God gave back his sight
Like the poor wretched beggar that's found fortune and fame
I'm so glad that I found out
He would bring me out through His Holy Name

Thank God I'm free, free, free from this world of sin
Washed in the blood of Jesus, I've been born again
Hallelujah, I'm saved, saved, saved by His wonderful grace
I'm so glad that I found out
He would bring me out and show me the way

My Christian and work-ethic heritage comes from my parents and close relatives like Grandma & Pap Haring:

Grandma Haring was the best Pie Baker this world has ever known!!

Don't let those pants fool you ---  Pap Haring was "Shrewd:  having or showing an ability to understand things and to make good judgments : mentally sharp or clever."  He was co-owner of Stanley Spring Works in Harrisburg.

And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
