3-year CHC House-church anniversary

Posted on December 19th 2015 at 10:17 AM Permalink

This month is the 3-year anniversary of CHC House-church.

We celebrated by visiting Teen Challenge Training Center in Rehrersburg, PA.  On our full tour of the campus we were able to see a few of the 166 men who have a zeal to serve the Lord for the remainder of their lives -- instead of living in open rebellion to God, family and society, they desire to grow in the grace, and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

After our tour, a group of 10 from our house-church went to Hoss's for a meal.  CHC has always encouraged fellowship meals, and this special celebration was no exception.

Thanksgiving 2015

Posted on November 26th 2015 at 10:30 AM Permalink

Giving thanks always for ALL things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Ephesians 5:20

My kids and I have had a great year -- Oh, of course I could throw in a few complaints but really, that would indicate an ungrateful attitude, and I refuse to go down that pathway!!

So here's the truth, nothing but the whole truth:  The Lord has blessed us, and watched over us another year!!  PTL.

Right now, we are going to celebrate the faithfulness of the Lord by having our traditional Thanksgiving home-made meal & desserts.

Unwanted Separation or Divorce

Posted on October 28th 2015 at 08:10 PM Permalink

There are no Easy 1-2-3 Steps to Recovery after an unwanted separation or divorce, but here are a few tips that might be helpful:

--  Your spouse chose to share life with you in the past, but now they have changed their mind.  Rejection hurts.  Betrayal hurts.  Being lied to hurts.  So go ahead and work through the emotions of sadness and loss.  Go ahead -- cry whenever you need to.

--  You'll probably experience moments of anger, but remember, the Bible states "be angry and sin not."  Google the "5-Stages of Grief" to help you understand some of the emotions you will experience during this time.  The stages are Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance

--  If you are tempted to beg your spouse to reunite, then this 3 minute video clip by TD Jakes might help you say Goodbye instead of begging them.

--  Don't dishonor yourself by neglecting your needs.  You are made in the image of God -- you have great value even though your spouse wants to live separate from you.

--  Listen to songs that have a thankful attitude, like "Wonderful Summer" by Robin Ward.

--  True love will let go and set someone free -- holding them against their will is not love.  Although it's not Christian based, here's a book that I highly suggest you read to help you understand that your spouse is yearning to be set free:  Uncoupling:  Turning Points in Intimate Relationships

And here's a very important verse from the Bible:

Philippians 4:11b - 13

"For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.  I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

In Awe by Central Christian School Quartet -- YouTube Link

You are beautiful beyond description
Too marvelous for words
Too wonderful for comprehension
Like nothing ever seen or heard
Who can grasp Your infinite wisdom
Who can fathom the depth of Your love
You are beautiful beyond description
Majesty enthroned above

And I stand, I stand in awe of You
I stand, I stand in awe of You

Holy God to whom all praise is due
I stand in awe of You

In awe of Your glory --  In awe of Your Grace
In awe of the Spirit --  We feel in this place
You surround us  --  You astound us
Jesus, we're so glad you found us
We stand in awe of You, Lord.

Your Presence speaks peace to the storms that rage in us
You whisper compassion; No song can describe
With hearts overwhelmed; Lord we just want to praise You
Our words fall short, of what we feel inside
